Best Treatment for Cold Sores

Cold sores are unpleasant and embarrassing. For teenagers they are almost a tragedy, and they seem to develop cold sores more frequently than any other group of person.

Also known as fever blister, cold sores are best treated as early as possible before it becomes chronic. However, there are natural remedies against them.

The cause of cold sores is not completely clear, but we know that certain conditions are often present. Stress, for example, has been linked to a higher susceptibility to cold sores, as well as to other infections. Too much sunlight, too much sugar and other unhealthy habits are also linked to a higher number of cold sores.

Cold soars are not canker sores. The difference here is that the former don’t appear in the inside of your mouth while canker sores are sores that appear within your mouth. They also have different causes. Cold sores are caused by a virus infection, the other is caused by a bacterial infection.

Cold soars are highly contagious. Since the best way of treating them is simply through prevention, remember not to kiss or share anything that could come in contact with the sores. If you already have them, treating them promptly at the first sign of an outbreak will ensure that they disappear within days.

How to Cure Cold Sores?

Oftentimes, the best treatment for cold sores can be found right at your home. The advantages of home remedies are that they are almost for free, are always at hand, and, what is more important, they work quite well in getting rid of cold sores.

Combining all these elements will make the home treatment more effective. In almost all cases, this treatment has proven to be highly effective cure for fever blisters.

Other natural remedies includes raw honey, which is not always available at home, but pretty often, and Lysine. Lysine, which can be bought as a nutrient supplement will also help you fight against it.

The use of Vitamins to treat cold sores is often recommended by some health experts. Vitamin A is said to be an effective cure against cold sores while applying Vitamin E directly to the blister helps speed up the healing process.

Normally, the symptoms should not last for more than a couple of days after beginning with any of these home remedies for cold sores.
