What if you could invite not one but 40 of the top bloggers into your living room?
What if you could have a glimpse into the mind of not one but 4o successful bloggers who have made it?
Blog Blazers

Blog Blazers is the work of Stephane Grenier who put together the mind of most prominent bloggers into an book in what could possibly be the first of its kind; interviewing 40 of the top bloggers to learn what makes them so successful in the league of their own and what they have in common.
I have an opportunity to exchange emails with Stephane while working on another project of mine. He is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met online.
No stranger to the business of how to create a successful blog, Stephane is an accomplished speaker who has spoken at various seminars on how to generate traffic for blogs.
His blog, FollowStep.com which is essentially his marketing vehicle for his business, is now generating half a million unique visitors a year.
I was then given a review copy of the book, Blog Blazers and boy! I almost finished reading it one sitting in between several cups of coffee.
Damn! It’s hard too put it down….
40 Tops Bloggers Share Their Secrets
I’m always fond of reading interviews with top bloggers who have gained popularity, authority, notoriety and in most cases, obscene amount of money.
The book, Blog Blazers is set up in a series of Q & A between Stephane and the other 39 top bloggers, namely Aaron Wall, Seth Godin, Yaro Starak, Neil Patel, Anita Campbell, Stephane himself, just to name a few.
Yes, Stephane did interview himself which is pretty unsual if you ask me.
It’s written in a style for any laymen, yet it’s packed full of resources even seasoned bloggers could learn a thing or two. It’s interesting to see the diversity of opinions on a couple of topics such as blog promotion, the best way to make money from a blog, the most common mistakes new bloggers make.
Each of them seems to have a differing thought on what makes a blog successful and that’s the part I love most. On the personal level, I find the greatest satisfaction comes in the form of emails and comments from my readers who tell me how I have helped them in one way or another.
Another interesting fact to note is that almost everyone interviewed at one point or another did mention Darren Rowse from Problogger. Though it’s sad that Darren isn’t one of the top bloggers being featured in a book, his name resonates throughout the book.
I figure it’d be nice to see an interview with one of the most successful bloggers on the planet and read his side of the story but then do we actually need another one?
In My Honest Opinion
This book isn’t a step-by-step “how-to” manual to build a successful blog but it does give an enlightening and inspirational peek into the true world blogging from the eyes of “those who have made it” albeit in a varying degree of success.
Since each chapter is essentially devoted to one blogger apiece, you could read it one chapter at a time which gives you ample time to digest and take note. So it isn’t necessarily to read it from cover to cover.
Honestly, the cover of the book isn’t too appealing but don’t judge the book by its cover.
Besides, at $16.95 at Amazon or $20.95 with an ebook bundle, Blog Blazers is a real bargain considering a wealth of tips you can get throughout the book.
A book that makes a worthwhile read if, as Seth Godin said, you want to be a remarkable blogger.

As one of the other 39 bloggers interviewed for the book, I wanted to say that I too found it quite interesting how often Darren Rowse was mentioned throughout the book. That is a clear sign of the impact that Darren has had on the blogosphere, which you can learn more about in the book he recently published with Chris Garrett.
Happy to hear that you enjoyed the book!

Hey Derek
It’s nice to see you dropping by. If I may ask, how did you get to know this blog?
Oh yes, I’ve enjoyed reading the books and your tip on the importance of writing with personality instead of just cold, hard facts is worth a mention too.
Thanks!

Yan, your review of the book was pointed out to me by my friend at GrowMap.com so I headed over to take a look.
BTW, I like to see the use of the Thesis theme. I recently purchased the developer’s license and have been digging into the code and customizing the theme.
